Buck Records Six Points at Canton

Aaron Buck (Churchville) recorded six points as the Alfred State lacrosse team fell 17-10 at SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon. The Kangaroos used a 7-1 advantage in the 2nd quarter to take control of the contest.

Alfred State led 5-4 after the 1st quarter but Canton scored the final six goals of the 2nd quarter to build a 11-6 lead at halftime. The Kangaroos were able to kill off a 3:00 man-down situation and then went on their run. Canton held a 4-3 advantage in the 3rd and outscored the Pioneers 2-1 in the 4th.

Buck finished the day with three goals and three assists to pace the Pioneers. Joshua Aviles (Middletown) finished with two goals and an assist, Joe Johnson (Churchville) had a goal and two assists, and Brian Mitchell (Lake Shore), Patrick Matkoski (West Genesee), Nathan Serio (Silver Creek), and Nicolas Covelli (Carmel) all found the back of the net once.

Kyle Smith led Canton (5-5) with four goals and six assists while Trenton Yuule finished with five goals and one assist.

Canton held a slight 43-42 shot advantage. Alfred State could not get the extra man offense going only scoring once in 12 opportunities.

The Pioneers head back to SUNY Canton next Saturday to compete in the USCAA Invitational. They battle University of Dallas  on Saturday at 4 p.m. and SUNY Delhi on Sunday at Noon.
