The Alfred State women's soccer team scored early but SUNY ESF rallied to tie the game late in the 1st half and scored two goals in the final two minutes to earn a 3-1 victory in a key USCAA battle on Sunday.
Julia Yanarella (Roy Ketcham) scored just three minutes into the game to give Alfred State an early lead. Allison Vargeson (Addison) was credited with the assist.
The Mighty Oaks tied the game up with three minutes left in the 1st half. The game remained tied until the final 20 minutes. ESF found the back of the net twice to earn their ninth win of the season.
Alfred State, ranked #5 in the USCAA, is now 7-6-1 on the year while ESF, ranked #2 in the USCAA, is 9-1-1.
The Lady Pioneers have two regular season games remaining in the 2015 season. They host Houghton on Thursday at 6 p.m. and then host Cazenovia on Saturday at 1 p.m.
