Lady Pioneers Heading Back to USCAA Nationals

The Alfred State women's soccer team will head to the USCAA National Championships for the third straight season. The Lady Pioneers have earned the #5 seed in next week's tournament to be held in Asheville, NC.

The blue & gold will match up with #4 Bryant & Stratton in a quarterfinal match-up on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the John B. Lewis Complex. Bryant & Stratton enters the tournament with a 9-3 record while Alfred State finished the regular season with a 8-7-1 record.

The Pioneers and Bobcats met on October 3rd in Syracuse with the Pioneers earning a 3-2 victory. Haley Russell (Keshequa) had two goals in the contest while Allison Danielak (Brockport) made six saves in net.

The winner of the Alfred State - Bryant & Stratton match-up will take on the winner of the quarterfinal that will feature #1 Maine Fort Kent (16-2) and the winner of the #8 Warren Wilson (5-2-1) and #9 Maine-Machias (11-3-4) on Friday (11/6) at 11:30 a.m.

The other side of the bracket features #2 Albany College of Pharmacy (12-3-1) taking on the winner of the #7 Southern Maine CC (10-1-2) and #10 Carlow University (6-8) first round contest. #SUNY ESF (10-1-2) battles #6 Illinois Tech (8-5-3) in the final quarterfinal match-up.

The championship match is slated for 11:30 a.m. on November 7th.
