Lady Pioneers Fall in Quarters

The Alfred State women's soccer team outshot Bryant & Stratton 18-9 but could not find the back of the net in a 3-0 loss in the USCAA National Championship quarterfinals. The Bobcats will advance to take on #1 Maine Fort Kent in the semifinals while the Lady Pioneers will take on Maine Machias in a consolation game.

Amanda Belsito opened the scoring 32:52 into the game when she scored after a corner kick by Nicolette Weir. Adela Racic doubled the lead in 69th minute and Weir put the game out of reach in the 87th minute when she capitalized on a penalty kick.

Alfred State held a 18 to 9 shot advantage in the contest and a 11 to 6 shot on goal advantage. Emily Wolf (Hornell) led the Pioneers with seven shots while Haley Russell (Keshequa) recorded four.

Megan Hagadorn made eight saves for the Bobcats to record the shutout. 

The Lady Pioneers will square off with the Maine Machias at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning.
