Quartet Named USCAA All-American

Four members of the Alfred State women's soccer team recently were named USCAA All-Americans. Keri Teufel (Sachem East) was named 1st team, Haley Russell (Keshequa) was named 2nd team, and Haley Vosburg (Fillmore) and Nicole Gilbert (Watertown) were named honorable mention.

Teufel, a senior midfielder/forward, played in all 18 games for the Lady Pioneers this season. She registered 35 shots (25 shots on goal) and scored two goals. She also passed out five assists, which was tied for the most on the team. 

Russell had a successful first season wearing the blue & gold. She led the team with 18 points. She scored eight goals and passed out two assists on the year. Two of her goals were game-winners.

Vosburg, a sophomore forward/midfielder, finished with 15 points on the year. She collected 39 shots (24 shots on goal) and found the back of the net seven times. She also was credited with one assist.

Gilbert, a freshmen defender, was key on the backline for the blue & gold. Gilbert and the Lady Pioneers finished the season with four shutouts.

The Lady Pioneers finished the season 9-8-1 and made their third straight trip to the USCAA National Championships. The team finished tied for 5th in the championship.

The women's soccer program has had ten USCAA All-Americans in the three years they have competed in the USCAA.
