Men 2nd, Women 4th at Houghton

The Alfred State men's cross country team ran to a 2nd place finish at the Houghton Highlander Invitational while the women's team finished 4th.

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) raced to a 2nd place finish in the men's 8k race. He crossed the finish line in 26:30.12. Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 5th (26:57.00), Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 8th (28:10.81), Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was 11th (28:45.28), and Kyle Glaub (West Seneca East) was 19th (29:45.32).

St. John Fisher took the men's title with a score of 23 followed by Alfred State's 45. Houghton was 3rd (70) and Hartwick was 4th (91).

In the women's race, Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the Lady Pioneers with a 7th place finish. She recorded a time of 21:16.03 on the 5k course. Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 13th (22:38.32), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 18th (23:31.65), Ashley Silva (West Genesee) was 25th (26:25.31), and Kate Gelser (Keshequa) was 29th (31:00.89).

Fisher won the women's crown with a score of 21. Houghton was 2nd (48), Hartwick was 3rd (70), and Alfred State was 4th (88).

The Pioneers head to the Roberts Wesleyan next Saturday.
