The Alfred State men's soccer team fell 4-1 to Tompkins Cortland CC in their 2012 season opener. TC3 improves to 2-1 on the season.
The Panthers held a 1-0 lead at halftime but added two more goals in the second half to jump to a 3-0 lead. Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored the blue & gold's lone goal after getting a pass from Kyle Jones (Wilson).
Nick Smith (Arkport) kept the Pioneers in the game with 22 saves in net.
Alfred opens up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday when they host the East-West Showdown. Jamestown CC takes on Mohawk Valley CC at 2 p.m. followed by Alfred State taking on SUNY Delhi at 4 p.m. On Sunday, Jamestown takes on Delhi at Noon and Alfred battles Mohawk Valley at 2 p.m.
