AMCC Showcase Semifinal Moved to Alfred

The Allegheny Mountain Athletic Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has moved the lacrosse showcase semifinal between Alfred State and Franciscan (OH) to Pioneer Stadium. The opening faceoff will be at 2 p.m.

The #2 seeded Pioneers were 3-1 in the AMCC regular season play and 7-9 overall while the #3 Barons were 2-2 in the AMCC and 7-7 overall. Alfred State won the regular season battle between the two schools 21-7 on April 9th.

The Pioneers are led in large part by their offensive one-two punch of Teddy Alvarado (Hilton) and Joe Johnson (Churchville). Alvarado is tops in the AMCC with 56 goals and sits in second with 73 points, while Johnson is tied for second with 50 goals and is fifth with 64 points. Defensively, Ryan Amidon (Fayetteville Manlius) leads the AMCC with a 51.6 save percentage and is second with 180 saves and a 10.90 goals-against average.

Franciscan also features a strong duo on the offensive side. Jonas McCaig is tied for second in the AMCC with 50 goals and is third with 69 points while senior Paul Modzelewski ranks second with 23 assists. Sophomore GK Matt Marrenna is third in the league with 153 saves and a 15.56 goals-against average.

#1 Hilbert (8-6, 4-0 AMCC) will host #4 Medaille (1-13, 1-3 AMCC) in the other semifinal that will be played in Buffalo at 5 p.m.

The championship game of the AMCC showcase will be played at 2 p.m. on Sunday (5/7) at St. Francis High School.
