Alvarado, Hoke, Morrow, and Hoover Honored by AMCC

A trio of Alfred State lacrosse players along with head coach Jonathan Hoover have earned postseason honors from the AMCC. Teddy Alvarado (Hilton), Kyle Hoke (Tully), and Tanner Morrow (Grand Island) were 1st team All-AMCC selections while Hoover was named co-coach of the year.

Alvarado, a junior attackmen, led the Pioneers with 84 points. He attempted 176 shots and scored 62 goals. He passed out 22 assists and picked up 37 ground balls. He scored at least once in every game this season and had three or more goals in 12 games. He had a season best eight goals in a victory over LaRoche. For his career, Alvardo has 97 goals and 34 assists in 37 games.

Hoke started on the defense in all 18 games this season. He recorded a goal and an assist and caused a team high 41 turnovers. He also picked up 42 ground balls. For his two years, Hoke has five points (1 G & 4 A), 92 ground balls, and 70 caused turnovers.

Morrow, a freshmen faceoff specialist, took 402 of the teams 433 faceoffs this season. He won 260 of his faceoffs (.647 faceoff percentage) and led the team with 183 ground balls. He also scored four goals (on 11 shots) and passed out two assists. He won over 20 faceoffs five times including 29 of 32 in a victory over Medaille.

Hoover shares the co-coach of the year honors with Rick Schunke (Hilbert). Hoover and the Pioneers were 3-1 during the AMCC regular season to earn the #2 seed in the postseason showcase. They advanced to the championship match of the showcase event by beating Franciscan but were tripped up by Hilbert in the finals. The eight overall victories (8-10) were the most for the Pioneers during the NCAA DIII era and the blue & gold have 13 victories in the past two years under Hoover.
