Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) headed in a direct kick from Nick Peraino (Geneseo) to account for the lone goal in the Alfred State 1-0 victory over Pitt-Bradford on Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 2-3 on the season.
In a tight physical battle, neither team could find the back of the net until the 76th minute when Porter netted his first goal of the season. Porter's goal came just minutes after a Panther shot hit the crossbar.
The Pioneers held a 13-11 shot advantage (Bradford led 7-5 on shots on goal) in the contest. Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) made nine saves to record his second straight home shutout. Colin Frownfelter made four saves for the Panthers.
Alfred State returns to action on Wednesday when they host Keuka at 7 p.m.
