Pioneers Double Up SUNY ESF

Nathan Serio (Silver Creek) and CJ Reynolds (East Rochester) netted goals as the Alfred State men's soccer team defeated SUNY ESF 2-1 on a blustery Sunday afternoon. The Pioneers improve to 5-6-1 on the year while the Mighty Oaks fall to 7-5.

Serio got the blue & gold on the board when he found the corner of the net after getting a direct kick from Nick Peraino (Geneseo).

3:13 into the 2nd half, Reynolds gave the Pioneers a two-goal lead when he capitalized on a leaping shot after getting a pass from Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond).

Owen Hennigan answered right back for ESF less than a minute later to cut the lead to 2-1. Hennigan scored on a header on a corner from Zack Reda.

Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) made several key saves in the final 40 minutes to preserve the lead and earn his fourth win of the year. Weir made a total of four saves on the day.

The Pioneers held a 15 to 12 shot advantage in the contest (8 to 6 shots on goal).

Alfred St. returns to action on Tuesday when they host St. John Fisher at 7 p.m.
