Late 1st Half Goals Lead Houghton over Alfred St.

Houghton tallied two goals in the final 2:24 of the 1st half en route to a 2-0 victory over Alfred State on Tuesday evening. The Highlanders are now 6-8-1 on the year while the Pioneers are 6-9-1.

Ben Munkittrick scored after a cluster in front of the Alfred State goal with 2:24 remaining in the 1st half. Jesse Toth made it 2-0 with 49 seconds remaining when he scored after getting a pass from Carlos Peregrina. Munkittrick was credited with the secondary assist.

Houghton outshot Alfred State 16 to 8. Jacob Dunnett made five saves to record the shutout while Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) made nine saves for Alfred State including three diving stops.

Alfred State is back at it on Friday when they play their final home game vs. Roberts Wesleyan at 6 p.m.
