Pioneers Swim Past Fredonia

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team improved to 2-0 on the young season with a 165-28 victory over SUNY Fredonia. The Pioneers won every event of the night.

Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH) set a new NCAA era record in winning the 50 free (21.84) while Brianna Dixon (Brentwood, NH) and Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ) both won two events. Dixon won the 200 free (1:53.42) and the 100 back (57.07) and Fletcher won the 200 IM (1:59.79), the 100 fly (53.77).

Henry Schafer (Warsaw/Notre Dame) won the 1,000 free (10:54.68), Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK) won the 100 free (48.78), Tanner Fixsen (Stayton, OR) won the 500 free (5:18.70), and Stuart Yates (Naples) won the 100 breast (1:00.03). 

Samuel Ricci (Oaks, PA) was tops on the 1m diving board (236.90) while Austin Miller (Hornell) scored 275.80 on the 3m board.

The 200 free relay team of Widney, Parker Brod (East Aurora), Cole Scofield (Niagara Wheafield), and Aldewereld improved the school record they established last week by winning in 1:29.74. The 200 medley relay team of Fletcher, Yates, Widney, and Aldewereld won in 1:37.51.

The Pioneers have next weekend off but return to action on October 30th when they travel to Penn State Behrend for their AMCC opener.
