Pioneers Win Oberlin Invitational

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team won the three-day Oberlin Invitational. The Pioneers led after each evening as they racked up 1,258.5 points.

Brianna Dixon (Brentwood, NH), Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK), and Austin Miller (Hornell) earned individual wins on Saturday. Dixon won the 200 back (1:55.18), Widney won the 100 free (46.78), and Miller won the 3m diving competition (360.90).

The 400 free relay team of Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood), Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ), Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH), and Parker Brod (East Aurora) won the final event of the meet with a time of 3:08.47.

Other top performances included:

  • Perry was 2nd in the 100 free (47.31)
  • Aldewereld was 3rd in the 100 free (47.50)
  • Hailu Harris (New York) was 3rd in 3m diving (266.30)
  • Fletcher was 2nd in the 200 fly (1:54.08)
  • Tanner Fixsen (Stayton, OR) was 6th in the 1650 free (17:45.89)
  • Riley Hoyt (Tulsa, OK) was 8th in the 200 breast (2:22.38)

Fletcher, Widney, and the 400 free relay set new school records on Saturday.

The Pioneers will get back in the pool on January 8th when they compete in the FIU Invitational in Miami, FL.
