Three Records Broken as Pioneers Continue to Lead at Championships

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team continues to lead after the second day of the Allegheny Empire Swimming & Diving Championships.

The Pioneers are in first place both overall and in the AMCC with 372 points. Nazareth College is in second overall with 361 points and Alfred University sits in third overall with 307.5 points. Penn State Behrend is fourth overall and second in the AMCC with 281 points.

The 200-yard freestyle relay of Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ), Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK), Stuart Yates (Naples) and Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH) broke the program record and won in a time of 1:24.85.

Aldewereld broke the AMCC record in the 50-yard freestyle after winning in a time of 20.94. 

Fletcher won the 200-yard IM in 1:54.31.

Widney placed third in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.47.

Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood) finished seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:52.17. Perry broke the program record during the preliminary rounds with a time of 4:45.94.

Day three action begins at 10 a.m. with preliminary rounds, diving begins at approximately 11:30 a.m., and the finals start at 5:30 p.m.
