Big First Day for Pioneers at Oberlin

The Alfred State men's swimming & diving team had a big first day at the Oberlin Invitational. The Pioneers won four of the five events held. 

Luca Aldewereld (Cleveland, OH) won the 50 free in 21.3. Jazz Widney (Tulsa, OK) was 3rd (21.87) and Parker Brod (East Aurora) was 5th (22.07).

Kellen Fletcher (Wrightstown, NJ) won the 200 IM with a time of 1:56.12 while Brianna Dixon (Brentwood, NH) was 4th in 2:01.09.

Fletcher, Widney, Brod, and Aldewereld combined to win the 200 free relay with a time of 1:25.00 while Westin Perry (Canisteo Greenwood), Stuart Yates (Naples), Fletcher, and Widney combined to win the 400 medley relay in 3:27.50.

All four of the winning performances set new ASC school records. 

In the 500 free, Riley Hoyt (Tulsa, OK) finished 14th (5:02.12).

Alfred State leads the nine team competition with 338.5 points.

Action continues on Friday with prelims and diving in the morning starting at 9 a.m. and finals starting at 6 p.m.
