Track Team Competes at Spire Midwest Open

The Alfred State indoor track team traveled to Geneva, OH to compete in the SPIRE Midwest Open. The meet featured NCAA DI, DII, and DIII teams.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was 3rd in the 3,000 open competition and is now 5th all time with a run of 10:59.02.

Anders Presthus (Lansing) finished 11th in the shot put with a toss of 14.02 m. He is now tied for 8th in the all-time list.

Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) finished 6th in the pentathlon with 1,773 points. Her most points came in the 60 m hurdles where her time of 11.16 earned her 511 points. In the men's heptathlon, Andrew Rubenstahl finished 3rd in the heptathlon with 3,311 points. He earned 562 points in the pole vault (3.80 m). Alex Brown (Wellsville) was 4th with 3,301 points.

Both the men's and women's 4x800 relay teams finished 5th.  Kelly Healy (Maple Hill), Emily Brigman (Hamburg), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville), and Elizabeth Butlak (Angola) finished 11:22.63 while Caleb Boyce-Wright (Cheektowaga), Matthew Conner (Port Byron), Trevor Stiles (Hornell), and Michael Girard (Phoenix) finished in 8:30.17.

The Pioneers are back at it next weekend when they some travel to the Ithaca Invitational and other compete at the Villanova Invitational
