Presthus Highlights Outdoor Track Opener

Anders Presthus (Lansing) had a big day as the Alfred State track & field team opened up the season at the Jim Taylor Invitational at Susquehanna University. 

Presthus qualified for the ECAC Championships in both the shot put and the discus. He was 3rd in the shot put with a toss of 14.93 and 7th in the discus (42.63). In the hammer throw, Presthus finished 12th with a toss of 37.82.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) had solid performances in the 3,000 steeplechase. Hanss was 5th in 10:04.91 while Hulbert was 9th in 10:29.03.

Zach Curran (Williamson) was 7th in the pole vault with a leap of 4.10 m, Andrew Rubenstahl (Washingtonville) was 13th in the high jump (1.77 m), and Nku Henry (Bronx/Cardinal Hayes) was 14th in the 100 (11.69).

Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) led the way with a 28th place finish in the 800 (2:38.79) and a 44th place finish in the 1500 (5:41.65).

The Pioneers head to the Geneseo Invitational next Saturday.
