Pioneers Compete at NYSCTC Champinoships

The Alfred State track & field team competed this weekend at the NYSCTC Championships at St. John Fisher. Anders Presthus (Lansing) and Zach Curran (Williamson) led the way for the blue & gold.

Presthus was 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 14.04 m and was 3rd in the discus with a mark of 40.82 m. He was also 14th in the javelin (42.35 m) and 21st in the hammer throw (39.95 m).

Curran registered a 5th place finish in the pole vault with a leap of 4.15 m.

The combo of Presthus led the Pioneer men to a 12th place finish with 17.5 points.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 12th in the steeplechase (10:02.17), Trevor Stiles (Hornell) was 13th in the 400 hurdles prelims crossing the finish line in 59.84, and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 21st in the steeple (10:26.88). 

Holly Fiore (Niagara Falls) was 13th in the javelin (25.94 m) while Steffanie Preston (Groton) was 14th (25.28 m). Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was 16th in the 10,00 m (42.11.39).

Presthus and Curran will headline the contingent that will head to the ECAC Championships on May 17-18.
