Lady Pioneers Sweep Tri-Match

The Alfred State volleyball team swept a pair of matches on Sunday defeating Penn State Beaver and Penn State New Kensington 3-0.  The Pioneers are now 13-8 on the year.

The Pioneers opened up the day with a 25-10, 25-14, 25-12 victory over Beaver.  Kay Pfleghardt (Tioga) led the way wiht nine kills, five digs, and three aces.  Lera Braun (Waterloo) chipped in 20 assists, six aces, and four kills while Mishaya Tuttle (Campbell Savona) had seven digs and four kills and four aces.

Versus New Kensington, Braun passed out 23 assists and five kills in the 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 victory.  Grace Hall (Ellicottville) added eight kills, four aces, and two blocks while Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) finished with seven kills.

The Lady Pioneers are back in action on Thursday when they host D'Youville at the Orvis Activities Center at 7 p.m.  The game is the team's annual Dig Pink contest with various fundraisers that will benefit the Side-Out Foundation.
