Men 2nd, Women 4th at JCC

The Alfred State swimming team wrapped up 2014 with a strong performance at the Jamestown CC Invitational. The men's team finished 2nd with 288 points while the women's team finished 4th.

Bryce Cutler (Newton, NJ) led the Pioneers with a 1st place finish in the 1650 free (18:48.75). His time in the 1650 and his split of 11:19.93 in the 1,000 set new records for the program in the NCAA era. Cutler was also 2nd in the 100 breast (1:13.68).

Tim Berry (Midlakes) won the 1-meter diving competition with 173.55 points. His total was nearly 25 points higher than his previous season best and set a new Alfred State NCAA era record.

John Paul Holubek (Wayland Cohocton) won the 200 free (2:06.43) and the 500 free (5:35.23), Kyle Sporysz (Cuba Rushford) won the 50 free (25.17), and Alex Ciolek (Orchard Park) won the 100 free (56.71) and was 2nd in the 50 free (25.30).

The 400 free relay (Sporysz, Tim Seitzenger (Bel Air, MD), Berry, and Cutler) was 2nd (4:00.80) and the 200 free relay (Culter, Holubek, Sporysz, and Ciolek) finished 2nd (1:59.62).

Eryn Cochran (Alfred) won the 100 backstroke (1:14.39) and the 100 breast (1:21.12. She was also 2nd in the 50 free (29.31).

The Pioneers return to action on January 14th when they swim against Wells.
