Pioneers and Panthers Tie

In a back and forth battle, Alfred State and Pitt Bradford settled for a 3-3 double overtime tie. The Pioneers erased one-goal deficits three different times but could not get the game winner in extra time despite holding a 5-4 shot advantage.

Pitt Bradford got on the board in the 9th minute when Steven McFetridge scored after getting a pass from Tyler Koch. Eight minutes later Brandon Holley (Livonia) tied it up with his first of two goals. The Panthers held a 6-5 shot advantage in the half.

Ryuta Hayakawa scored just 3:57 into the 2nd half to give the Panthers back the lead until Ryan Johnson (Sodus) tied it back up in the 64th minute with his first career goal. Hayakawa scored his second of the game on a penalty kick in the 81st minute. Holley tied it up with 5:18 remaining when he scored a goal after a wild sequence in front of the net. Pitt Bradford held a 7-5 shot advantage in the 2nd half.

Bradford outshot Alfred State 3-1 in the opening ten minute overtime session but the Pioneers put more pressure on in the 2nd OT frame outshooting the Panthers 4-1.

Vinny Biancuzzo (Genesee Valley) made six saves in net for the Pioneers while Derrick Brock made six for the Panthers.

The Pioneers return home on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest vs. D'Youville.
