Track & Field Competes at USCAA's

The Alfred State track and field team had a solid day at the USCAA Invitational held at SUNY Delhi on Saturday. The competition featured both a USCAA and NJCAA field.

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) was a triple winner for the Lady Pioneers. She won the discus (38.67) and the hammer (46.08) while teammate Haley Anderson (Lyndonville) was 2nd in the discus (31.09) and 2nd in the hammer (36.44). Kothor also won the shot put (12.96 m).

On the men's side the Pioneers had great success in the pole vault and the steeplecahse. In the pole vault Zach Curran (Williamson) won with a leap of 4.15 m and Brandon Teboe (Falconer) was 2nd (4.00 m) while in the steeplechase, Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 2nd (10:02.85) and Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 3rd (10:16.61).

Jake Hawley (Susquehanna) was 2nd in the javelin with a toss of 37.89, Kyle Jones (Wilson) was 3rd in the 100 (11.67) and 5th in the 200 (23.60), Timothy Coburn (Dansville) was 2nd in the shot put (12.26) and 5th in the discus (32.52).

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) was 2nd in the 5,000 (19:58.45), Domonique Shirley (Bronx/Harry Truman) was 3rd in the 400 (63.84), Angel Bresnahan (Mexico) was 3rd in the long jump (4.72) and 4th in the 100 (13.73), Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 5th in the 800 (2:30.34), Maddi McDonald (Lansing) was 6th in the 100 (14.00), and Mariah Smith (Hornell) was 7th in 1,500 (5:21.44).

The Pioneers women scored 105.5 points to earn 2nd place overall. They trailed only Berea in the USCAA competition. The men scored 127 points to earn 3rd overall. 

Most of the team will next compete at the NYS Championships on Friday at RPI.
