Kothor Finishes 3rd in Shot Put

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) finished 3rd in the shot put as Alfred State wrapped up action at the 2016 ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at Westfield (MA) State. The Lady Pioneers finished tied for 35th in the competition.

Kothor registered a toss of 13.89 m to finish 3rd in the field that featured 30 competitors. Kothor only trailed the winner Brandy Smith (Ithaca) by .25 m and was .5 m ahead of the 4th place finisher.

The 4x800 relay team of Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge), Kelly Healy (Maple Hill), Mariah Smith, and Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) also competed at the ECAC Championships and finished 23rd with a time of 10:33.41.

The Lady Pioneers tied with Union, Colby-Sawyer, Springfield, Husson, Amherst, Williams, and Alfred University in 35th place in the team standings with six points. Rowan University took home the high team honors.

The meet also marked the end of the remarkable career of Alfred State head coach Gary Moore. Moore has guided Pioneer athletes since joining the athletic department in 1978.
