Women 11th, Men 13th at NYS Championships

The Alfred State women's track & field team finished 11th while the men's team finished 13th at the New York State Championships at RPI. 

Victoire Kothor (Rochester/Greece Odyssey) led the way for the Pioneers by winning the shot put competition. Her winning toss fo 13.91 m broke her own school record and was 1.18 m further than the 2nd place finisher.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 8th in the steeplechase finishing in 9:54.78. His finish time moves him to 10th on the all-time list and passes his high school coach.

The women's relay teams both broke into the top ten lists. The 4x100 relay team of Maddi McDonald (Lansing), Domonique Shirley (Bronx/Harry Truman), Alexis Carrington (Manhattan/NYC I School), and Angel Bresnahan (Mexico) finished 9th in 51.27 which is now 4th all-time. Shirley, McDonald, Kelly Healy (Maple Hill), and Brianna Byrnes (Jordan Elbridge) ran the 4x400 in 4:14.96 to earn 10th place and tie for 6th best all-time.

The Pioneer women scored 11 points in the competition while the men scored 2.

A handful of athletes will head to the ECAC Championships on May 18-19 in Westfield, MA.
