Lady Pioneers Race Past Tigers

The Alfred State women's soccer team raced past SUNY Cobleskill 9-0 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 2-0 on the young season. The Lady Pioneers scored six times in the first 18 minutes of the game.

Dannielle O'Buckley (Jamaica/Ansbach) got the scoring started with her first of three goals after getting a crossing pass from Michayla Salatel (Geneseo). Moments later, Kylie Newman (Waverly) scored after a scramble in front. O'Buckley scored a couple minutes later after creating a breakaway and then made it 4-0 with an assist to Melissa Mineti (Livonia). Salatel scored her first of the season after getting a crossing pass from Darien Hooker (Canisteo Greenwood). O'Buckley capped her hat trick to cap the scoring in the 1st half when she scored from 25-yards out.

Carissa Pompa (Rochester/Mercy) scored twice in the first 13:30 of the 2nd half to add to the lead. Her first was a blast from 19-yards out and her second was after getting a pass from Newman. Salatel capped the scoring with just over 20 minutes left when she got a crossing pass from Leigh Swartzfager (Keshequa).

Alfred State outshot the Tigers 41-0 in the contest. Allison Danielak (Brockport) and Kathryn Parson (York) split time in net to record the shutout.

The blue & gold back in action next Sunday when they travel to battle the University of Rochester at 2 p.m.
