Strong Performances for Pioneers at Brockport Invite

The Alfred State cross country team had some strong performances at the Brockport Invitational on Saturday morning. The Pioneer men finished 3rd while the women finished 4th.

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) was 3rd overall in the men's 8k race. He crossed the finish line in 26:16.4 which was just under two seconds behind 2nd and 26 seconds behind 1st.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 13th (27:46.8), James Westman (Fonda-Fultonville) was 18th (28:12.1), Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 21st (28:33.7), and Brandon Moore (Newfield) was 21st (28:33.7).

The Pioneers scored 61 points only trailing Buffalo State (39) and Brockport (48).

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the Lady Pioneers with a 8th place finish in the women's 6k course. She finished with a time of 24:24.5. Mary Frances Aini (Arkport) was 21st (25:40.7) and Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 39th (27:56.4).

Brockport won the women's title with 26 followed by Geneseo (41), Buffalo State (73), and Alfred St. (102).

The Pioneers are back in action next Saturday at the Houghton College Invitational. The first race is slated for a Noon start.
