Johnson, Rusek, and Hanss Run to All-American Honors

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas), Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East), and Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) ran to All-American honors at the 2014 USCAA National Championships. Johnson and Rusek ran to 1st team honors while Hanss ran to 2nd team honors. 

Johnson was the top freshmen finisher in the race. He crossed the finish line of the 8k course in 27:10.7 for a 3rd place finish.

The solid performance at the USCAA Nationals capped a season in which he was 7th at the NYS Championships, was named NYSCTC rookie of the year, earned All-Conference honors from the NYSCTC, and was named ECAC rookie of the week twice. His top time of the season came in the NYS Championships with a 8k run of 26:25.

Rusek was 1:09 faster at the 2014 USCAA National Championships than he was in 2013. His finish of 27:43.0 earned him 7th place and a spot on the All-American 1st team. His finish at the National was his top finish of the season by 13 seconds. Rusek finished 16th during the 2013 Championships.

Hanss was the 4th freshmen to finish at the USCAA National Championships. He crossed the finish lin in 28:16.1 for a 14th place finish. Hanss' top time on a 8k course this season was 27:55 at the NYS Championships.

Johnson, Rusek, and Hanss are the first cross country athletes at Alfred State to earn All-American honors from the USCAA.

As a team the Pioneers were 3rd at the USCAA National Championships. Their top finish as a member of the USCAA (4th in 2013).
