Jones Scores Twice as Pioneers Down Jayhawks

Kyle Jones (Wilson) scored two goals as the Alfred State men's soccer team defeated Jamestown CC 2-1 to earn their first victory of the season.  The Pioneers are now 1-2 on the year.

Jamestown got on the board first with a goal in the 15th minute to take the early lead.  Jones tied it up in the 39th minute after getting a pass from Nick Peraino (Geneseo).  He gave the Pioneers the lead for good with a goal in the 43rd minute, Peraino was credited with the assist.

Jones has now scored three of the Pioneers five goals on the season

The Jayhawks held a 13 to 8 shot advantage in the game.  Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) kept the Pioneers in the the game by making some solid saves.  He finished the day with six saves in net to earn his first collegiate victory.

Alfred State has a few days off before traveling to Elmira College on Monday (9/9) to battle the Soaring Eagles at 4 p.m.
