Elmira Shuts Out Alfred State.

The Elmira College men's soccer team held Alfred State to just eight shots as they shutout the Pioneers 3-0 in a contest on Monday afternoon.  The Soaring Eagles improve to 2-0 on the young season while the Pioneers fall to 1-3.

The Eagles got on the board in the 36th minute when Andre Germano scored on a shot that found the top left corner.

Elmira made it 2-0 in the 48th minute on a Ernesto Valverde goal.  Valverde connected on a left foot shot into the right corner. Michael Bryant capped the scoring in the 64th minute when he scored on a header after getting a pass from Valverde.

Valverde finished with a goal and two assists on the day.

Nick Lapinski earned the shutout by making five saves for Elmira.  The Eagles outshot the Pioneers 23 to 8 in the game.

The blue & gold are back at it on Wednesday when they travel to Keuka College for a 7 p.m. battle with the Storm.
