The Alfred State men's soccer team scored three 2nd half goals in a 3-1 victory over Mercyhurst North East on Saturday. The blue & gold improve to 4-10 on the year.
Mercyhurst North East scored the lone goal of the 1st half and led until Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) sent a direct kick into the back of net for his 3rd goal of the year.
Kyle Jones (Wilson) gave the Pioneers the lead for good when he scored after getting a pass from Torey Jinks (Beavercreek, OH). Jones added an insurance goal later after getting a pass from Porter. Jones now has found the back of the net a team high nine times.
Alfred held a 10 to 8 shot advantage on the day. Nick Smith (Arkport) made five saves to record the victory in net.
The blue & gold wrap up the 2013 campaign on October 28 when they battle Roberts Wesleyan.
