Pioneers Fall in Season Finale

The Alfred State men's soccer team saw Roberts Wesleyan score five unanswered goals en route to a 7-2 victory over the Pioneers.  The blue & gold wrap up the season with a 4-11 record.

Roberts got on the board in the 7th minute when Colton Orbaker scored the first of his two goals on the game.  Kyle Jones (Wilson) tied it up just under ten minutes later after getting a pass from Nick Peraino (Geneseo).

Derek Holmes gave the Redhawks back the lead 1:23 later when he scored his first of two goals.  Mitchell Porter (Alfred Almond) scored in the 35th minute on a long range blast that got over the goalies head to tie it up.

Roberts took the lead for good last in the 1st half (43:18) on a goal by Michael Cunningham.

In the 2nd half, Holmes and Stephen Stewart and Orbaker scored in the first six minutes to give the Redhawks the insurance goals they needed.  Will Cornield added a goal late.

Roberts Wesleyan, a NCAA Division II school, outshot Alfred 31 to 6 in the contest.

Jones finishes the year with a team best 10 goals.
