Pioneers Tallied Three Bracket Champions

Washington, PA- The Alfred State Men's Wrestling team tallied three brackets champions, a runner up finisher and seven place finishers at the Washington and Jefferson Invite.

Sean Malenfant took home the 184 title after breaking the Pioneers career pins record. He started his day with a fall in 2:44. Then in his next match he got a takedown and a four-point near fall before getting his season fall of the day. He followed that with a major decision win to advance to the first-place match. Then in the first-place match, he got a fall in the first round to claim the title.

Zach Levey won the 133 bracket with two decision wins, a major decision, and a fall. His day started with a 4-1 decision win. Then he notched a 9-3 decision win, before getting a third period fall to advance to the first-place match. In the first-place match, Levey tallied a major decision to win the bracket.

Justin Smith won the 165 bracket with three falls and a major decision. In his first match, Smith notched a first period fall. He followed with a major decision to advance to the semifinals. He would then notch back-to-back fall wins to claim the bracket.

Another notable finishes were Dom Vinci who finished in second in the 141 bracket. Elijah Moshenek who finished fourth in the 141 bracket and Aaron Johnson who finished fifth in the 184 bracket.
