Malenfant Moves On To Day Two At The NCAA National Tournament
La Crosse, WI- The Alfred State men's wrestling team's Sean Malenfant is the first Pioneer to garner All-American status in the NCAA era. Sean Malenfant went 2-1 on the day and will be in the hunt tomorrow for third place.
Malenfant started his day with a 5-0 decision win over Gavin Layman (Ohio Northern). In that match, he notched a takedown, an escape, and a riding time point. He would lose his second match to Sampson Wilkins of Castleton, before getting a 6:15 fall over Trent Furman (NYU) two advance to day two of the tournament.
Zack Levey went 1-2 on the day, his lone victory came by way of fall in 3:59 against Danny Haws of Centenary. Levey finishes his season with a 30-5 overall record.
