Pioneers Notched An 18th Place Finish At The NWCA National Duals

Cedar Falls, IA- Alfred State men's wrestling takes home 18th place at the NWCA National Duals. The Pioneers split the day taking down Marymount 38-13 to claim a spot in the 17th place match against RIT.

Marymount 38-13

Ryan Farley got a forfeit win in the 125 match, before Zach Levey notched a fall in 58 seconds over Dylan Coward. In the 141 bout, Elijah Moshenek tallied two takedowns, a four-point near-fall, and an escape for the 13-1 major decision win. Dominick Vinci followed with a 6:50 fall in the 149 match against Mateo Hernandez. Justin Smith notched two takedowns, two escapes, and a four-point near-fall for the 13-3 major decision win over Julian Schott. From there, George Racz notched a 1:03 fall in the 174 match and Blake Ilges tallied a 1:01 fall in the 197 match to secure the dual for the Pios.

RIT 31-13

Against RIT three Pioneers claimed a victory. In the 133 match, Levey notched three takedowns on his way to a major decision win over Lagan Patterson. Sean Malenfant came away with a first period fall in the 174 bout against Elon Martin. Then Nick Barrett claimed a 3-2 decision win over Nicholas Smith  in the 285 match.

Head Coach Justin Signorelli had this to say, "I am really pleased with the guy's effort from the entire trip. Flying out to the Midwest to compete against some of the top D3 teams in the country and battling to earn two wins is a great accomplishment for the program and we are looking forward to building on this experience."
