The Pioneers Tallied 12-Place Finishers

Garden City, NY- The Alfred State men's wrestling team tallied 12 place finishes at the NY Collegiate Championships.

In the 133 bracket, Zach Levey tallied a second-place finish. He opened the day with a 5:12 fall, then notched an injury default win to advance to the semifinals. In the semifinals, Levey notched a 10-9 decision win over Jacob Venezia (NYU) to advance to the first-place match. In the first-place match, he wrestled against Isaias Torres (Ithaca), where he lost in overtime.

In the 141 bracket, Dominick Vinci earned third place. After a bye, Vinci tallied a first round fall over Francis Whitehouse (Brockport) in 1:43. Vinci followed with another first round fall against Zach Ash (unattached) in 2:45. After suffering a loss in his next match, Vinci notched a 9-6 decision over Nicholas Kruczynski (NYU) for third place.

In the 184 bracket, Sean Malenfant notched a fifth-place finish. Malenfant opened with a 10-2 major decision win over Eric DeWald (Merchant Marine). Malenfant would suffer a loss in his next match, before getting a 7-5 decision win over Nick Bell (NYU). In the fifth-place match, he notched a 4:09 fall over Trent Furman (NYU) for fifth place.

Notable finishes in the freshman/ sophomore brackets are: Ryan Farley who finished fourth in 125, Mason Drew who won the 125 bracket, Jayden Norris finished sixth in 133, Benjamin Lloyd who placed fourth in 149, Ethan Morrison placed sixth in 157, Benjamin Rivera placed sixth in 165, George Racz finished sixth in 174, Brent Perry tallied fourth place in 184, and Aaron Johnson earned fifth place in 184.
