Two More Wins for Lady Pioneers

The Alfred State volleyball team won a pair at the Ramapo (NJ) Tournament and ran their winning streak to 11 games on Friday evening. They defeated St. Joseph's (LI) 25-19, 25-21, 25-14 and Brooklyn College 25-7, 25-18, 25-7.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) recorded 14 kills and eight digs to lead the Pioneers over St. Joseph's. Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) had eight kills, Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) passed out 29 assists, and Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 17 digs. Jessica Padley (Buffalo/Sweet Home) chipped in 12 digs.

Alfred State served 19 aces and connected on 36 of their 78 attacks as they eased past Brooklyn. Twelve Lady Pioneers saw action in the game. Godfrey led the way with nine kills and eight digs while Szpaicher passd out 24 assists and had four service aces. Shaina Griffin (Portville) and Hamilton both chipped in six kills and Webster led the 10 digs.

The blue & gold have now won 24 straight games and finish September with a 11-0 record. Earlier today the team debuted at #4 in the first USCAA poll of the season.

The Pioneers wrap up play at the Ramapo Tournament tomorrow at 11 a.m. when they take on Neumann.
