Lady Spikers Roll to Sweep of Houghton

The Alfred State volleyball team rolled to a sweep of Houghton, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15 on Wednesday evening. The Lady Pioneers improve to 22-4 on the year with the victory over their cross county rival.

Bryanna Godfrey (Tioga) led the way with 11 kills and 11 digs. Madison Szpaicher (Ellicottville) finished with 26 assists, seven kills, nine digs, and four aces while Janae Hamilton (Ellicottville) had a loud seven kills. Madison Webster (Corning) led the team with 15 kills while Shaina Griffin (Portville) chipped in four service aces.

The Lady Pioneers used 14 service aces and a .290 hitting percentage to control the contest. 

Erica Barney led Houghton (12-12) with seven kills while Anna Coryell passed out 18 assists.

The blue & gold are back in action on Friday when they play their home finale vs. Cazenovia. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. Prior to the game seniors Madison Szpaicher, Janae Hamilton, Grace Hall, and Jessica Padley will be honored.
