Zimmerman Named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week

Alfred State junior safety Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua) has been named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week. Zimmerman had a monster day for the Pioneer defense.

In the Pioneers tight 20-14 loss to Rochester, Zimmerman recorded 11 tackles (six solo and two for a loss) and intercepted a pass. Zimmerman was everywhere in the 1st half as he recorded 10 of his tackles in just two quarters. Zimmerman also punted five times for 183 yards (36.6 yards per punt).

Zimmerman is the first Pioneer to earn ECFC honors this year.

Husson University teammates Cory Brandon (Pembroke, Mass.) and Ty Bassett (Dracut, Mass.) earned Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week while Dean College's Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) took home Rookie of the Week honors.
