Alfred State Finished Top-5 in Almost Every Event

Alfred, NY- The Alfred State men's track and field team had a good outing in their home opener.

Mekhi Christensen finished first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.20, while Nicholas Florczak finished third with a time of 11.34. Derek Walter took first with a time of 59.27 in the 400-meter hurdles while Kyle Brown finished in second with a time of 1:05.63.  Then in the 400-meter Connor Schreiber placed second with a time of 58.64. With a time of 1:59.90 placed Mamadou Barry third in the 800 meter, while Eddie Scroxton and Brian Clark followed to finish in fourth and fifth respectively. In the 1500 Maxwell Chiarella finished ninth with a time of 4:51.83.

Then Florczak took second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.86 while Jayden Brown finished ninth with a time of 26.24. Carter Riley finished first in the 3000-meter run with a time of 11:08.64.

Greg Raymond took second in the hammer throw with a best throw of 43.29 meters, followed by Tyler Lantrip with a throw of 41.51 meters. Then in fifth was Brandon Russell with a throw of 40.46 meters and Jairo Agosto threw 39.78 to place sixth. In the shot put, Lantrip took fourth with a throw of 12.46 meters while Kyle Kapichok finished fifth with a throw of 12.12 meters and Agosto followed in sixth with a throw of 12.08 meters. Alfred State swept the top three in the javelin with Kapichok leading the way with a throw of 41.20 meters. Derek Walter finished second with a throw of 40.52 meters and Davyn Gulbrandsen finished third with a throw of 39.09 meters. Then in the discus throws Russell took third with a best throw of 38.05 meters, followed by Raymond in fourth and Kapichok in fifth.  

Three Pioneers finished first in the top five in the long jump lead by Aden Alexander who took second with a jump of 6.42 meters while Isaac Rivet placed third with a jump of 6.32 meters and Mekhi Christensen placed fifth with a jump of 6.12 meters. Rivet and Alexander also finished in the top four in the triple-jump. River placed third with a jump of 12.19 meters and Alexander placed fourth with a jump of 12.03.

Alfred State took first in the 4x100 when a team of Nicholas Florczak, Isaac Rivet, Patrick Puffer, and Mehki Christensen ran for a time of 43.67. A team of Derek Walter, Connor Schreiber, Eddie Scroxton and Grayson Montague finished second in the 4x400 after running a 3:38.74.
