Gavin Bathgate leads four Pioneers named All-AMCC

Bathgate Named Runner of Year - Hvisdak, Weir, and Clark Named All-AMCC

Gavin Bathgate (East Rochester) has earned AMCC Runner of the Year for the second consecutive season. Bathgate helped lead the Alfred State men's cross country to a 2nd place finish in the AMCC Championship held on his home course.

Bathgate started the 2021 season right where he left last year's spring season. The defending AMCC champion won the first two races of the season (Buffalo State and Alfred State) and then ran his fastest 8k time of the year (26:47.6) at the Mike Woods Invitational at Geneseo. On the wet and muddy 8k course at ASC, Bathgate won by over 22 seconds to claim the AMCC title. He crossed the finish line in 29:25.1.

Bathgate was joined on the All-AMCC 1st team by four runners from Penn State Behrend including AMCC Newcomer of the Year Kody Klein.

Andrew Hvisdak (Orchard Park/Hamburg) ran to 2nd team All-AMCC honors with a 10th place finish at the AMCC Championships (32:51.05). Ryan Weir (Schertz, TX), and Brian Clark (Bethpage) earned 3rd team All-AMCC honors. Weir was 12th (33:22.58) and Clark was 14th (33:35.94).

Bathgate and Clark were both All-AMCC honorees last season.

The Pioneers will head to Geneseo on Saturday to compete in the NCAA DIII East Regionals.
