Coach Reid at the NCWA Championships

Reid Accepts Position at Ohio Wesleyan

Alfred State wrestling coach Paul Reid has been named the new wrestling coach at Ohio Wesleyan. The search for his replacement has begun.

"I want to acknowledge Paul for the outstanding work," stated Director of Athletics Jason Doviak. "His coaching style and philosophy were infectious and he was beloved by the members of his program.  His dedication, enthusiasm, and expertise will certainly be missed by our student-athletes and staff.  His influence went beyond the wrestling mat as Paul also served as an instructor for physical education classes and served as our academic advisor within the athletic department.  We wish Paul and his family the best of luck on their new journey."

Reid coached at Alfred State for the past three seasons. Last year, the Pioneers were 7-8 in dual matches, finished 2nd at the NCWA Regional, 3rd at the USCAA Invitational, and 13th at the NCWA National Championships. Ian Van Valen was the national runner-up to become the top finisher at the Nationals in Alfred State history.

"My time at Alfred State has been amazing. The environment and experience has allowed me to grow greatly in both my professional and personal life. I will always have great memories not only with my student-athletes but my coworkers as well. I'd like to thank the administration who decided three years ago to give me an opportunity to lead the wrestling program."
