Men 8th, Women 13th at U of R

The Alfred State men's cross country team finished 8th while the women finished 13th at the annual University of Rochester Invitational.  The Pioneer men registered a score of 246 while the women scored 381.

Joe Seitz (Williamsville) led the blue & gold on the 8k men's course with a 63rd place finish.  He crossed the finish line in 28:04.0.  Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was 69th (28:10.7), James Westman (Fonda-Fultonville) was 80th (28:40), Dominic Frreudenvoll (Greece Arcadia) was 85th (28:51.5), and Uman Dharamshi (Roy Ketcham) was 92nd (29:24.6).

The host Yellowjackets won the men's title with a score of 20.  The Pioneers finished ahead of St. John Fisher, Nazareth, Hobart, Morrisville, Cazenovia, Wells, and Geneseo.  There were 163 runners in the competition.

Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) led the Lady Pioneer women in the 6k course with a 107th place finish (26:30.7).  Kim Lupo (Auburn) was 112th (26:53.8), Mikaela Shaw (Attica) was 132nd (28:05.7), Leah Foley (Marion) was 145th (29:52), and ShirleeJae Illsley (Whitney Point) as 149th (30:37.4).

Ithaca won the women's title in the race that featured 164 finishers.

The Pioneers return to action on next Saturday when they head to the Houghton College Invitational.
