Men Finish 8th at Houghton Invitational

The Alfred State men's cross country team finished 8th at the Houghton College Invitational. The women's team was slowed down by illness and was incomplete.

Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) led the Pioneer men on the 8k course with a 32nd place finish. He crossed the finish line in 28:05.2.  Joe Setiz (Williamsville) was 37th (28:16.3) and James Westman (Fonda Fultonville) was 39th (28:35.3).  Dominic Freudenvoll (Greece Arcadia) was 73rd (29:53.9) and Umang Dharamshi (Roy Ketcham) was 83rd (30:20.9).

The Pioneers scored 214 points on the day and finished just behind Brockport (207) and ahead of Alfred University (225) and Finger Lakes CC.  SUNY Fredonia won the men's title.

Illness forced three Lady Pioneers not to compete on Saturday.  Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) led the team with a 62nd place finish (21:23.3) in the 5k course.  Mikaela Shaw (Attica) finished 89th in 23:30.

The Pioneers are in action next Saturday when they compete in the Alfred State Alumni Race. Current Pioneers will take on past Pioneers in a race beginning at 11 a.m.
