Strong Performances for Pioneers at Roberts

The Alfred State cross country team turned in some strong performances at the Roberts Wesleyan Harry Anderson Invitational. The men's team finished 11th out of 24 scoring teams while the women finished 17th.

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) finished 14th overall in the men's 8k race. He averaged 5:17 a mile and crossed the finish line in 26:12.1. He was the 4th fastest NCAA DIII athlete in the race.

Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) finished 42nd (26:56.5), Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 70th (27:40.9), Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was 107th (28:35.2), and Kiernan Lauber (East Aurora) was 136th (29:20.7).

The men scored a 309 points on the day. Cornell won the men's race with a score of 25. The Pioneers were the 5th best DIII squad in a race that featured NCAA DI, DII, and NAIA competition. A total of 237 runners competed in the race.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the Lady Pioneers with a 81st place finish in the 5k race (20:58.6). Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 129 (22:09.8), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 150th (23:11.3), Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge) was 176th (24:58.8), and Ashley Silva (West Genesee) was 181st (25:35.2).

The host Roberts Wesleyan took the women's title with a score of 53. The Lady Pioneers scored a 529 on the day.

The blue & gold have next weekend off. They return to action on October 10th at the DeSales University Invitational
