Men 6th, Women 17th at DeSales

The Alfred State men's cross country team finished 6th out of 23 teams that competed at the 33rd annual DeSales Invitational. The women's team finished 17th.

Keith Johnson (Webster Thomas) continued to lead the Pioneer men with a 6th place finish in the 8k course. He raced to a time of 26:54.17. Jacob Hanss (East Rochester) was 25th (28:00.30), Eric Hulbert (Mexico) was 31st (28:14.36), Jordan Rusek (Williamsville East) was 50th (29:10.77) and Kyle Glaub (West Seneca East) was 76th (30:20.80).

A total of 164 runners competed in the race with The College of New Jersey taking home the team title with a score of 21. Alfred State scored 149 on the day.

Lindsey Thiel (Liverpool) led the women with a 34th place finish in 25:58.24. Kelly Healy (Maple Hill) was 87th (28:24.72), Cassandra Ryan (Gloversville) was 113th (29:28.93), Brianna Brynes (Jordan Elbridge) was 126th (30:02.66), and Ashley Silva (West Genesee) was 138th (31:07.74).

Host Desales took home the team title with a 30 followed by Kutztown (32). The Lady Pioneers scored a 398.

The blue & gold now set their sights at the New York State Championship which will be held in two weeks at Hamilton College.
