Pioneers and Eagles Battle to 1-1 Tie

Alfred State and Elmira battled 110 minutes to a 1-1 tie on Wednesday evening. The Pioneers are now 4-6-1 on the year while the Eagles are 0-7-2.

Brandon Holley (Livonia) scored his team high 5th goal of the season in the 11th minute. He was able to capitalize on a defensive miscue that allowed him to knock the ball into the back an empty net.

The Pioneers kept the lead until the 82nd minute when Victor Rosas-Granda made a crossing pass that found Ronaldo Charlton foot. Charlton got enough on the pass to put it in the back of the net for the game-tying tally.

Both teams had solid chances to win the game but Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) and Jordan Dougherty would not let another shot past them. Weir finished with four saves while Dougherty had nine.

Alfred State held a 19 to 9 shot advantage (10 to 5 shots on goal) in the contest.

The Pioneers continue their home stand on Sunday when they host SUNY ESF at 3 p.m.
