Pioneers Hang Tough vs. Roberts

The Alfred State men's soccer team hung tough versus NCAA DII Roberts Wesleyan on Friday evening. The Redhawks earned a 4-0 victory with two of their goals coming in the final six minutes.

Logan Wood scored the lone goal of the 1st half when he got a pass from Stephen Stewart at the 24:44 mark of the game.

Garth Brungard made it 2-0 in the 72nd minute after getting a pass from Stewart. Alex Loete added two insurance goals, 84th and 90th minute to cap the scoring.

Roberts held a 26 to 2 shot advantage. Michael Scavone and John Ciavaglia combined for the one-save shutout while Nickolas Weir (Harrisville) made 10 stops for the Pioneers.

The game was the final home contest for the Pioneers three seniors, Nick Peraino (Geneseo), CJ Reynolds (East Rochester), and Michael Yacuzzo (East Rochester).

The Pioneers (6-10-1) play their final game of the 2014 season on Tuesday at Penn State Behrend.
