Pioneers Drop AMCC Opener

Claysburg, PA - The Alfred State softball team drop their first AMCC doubleheader of the season. The Pioneers lost game one 11-3 and lost game two 9-0. The Pios drop to 5-9 overall and 0-2 in AMCC action.

 

In game one, Hailee Smith suffered the loss and pitched 4.2 innings. Audrey Farrell went 2-3 on the day with two RBI's. Lauryn Engle went 1-3 with one RBI.

 

The Lions took an early 3-0 lead after two innings including a homer to left field in the first inning. The Pios got on the board after a single up the middle from Engle brought Tiante Murray home. The Lions scored 2 runs in the third and Alfred State matched it in the fourth inning as a single up the middle brought Abigail Marinelli and Breena Komarnisky home. The Lions scored 7 unanswered runs to end the game and the Pioneers lost 11-3.

 

In game two, Komarnisky suffered the loss pitching 4.0 inning and tallying two strikeouts. Farrell and McKinlee Harris each went 1-2 in the game.

 

The Pioneers offense struggled to bring in a run this game. The Lions started with four runs in the first inning. They continued with four more runs in the second inning and a homer in the third. The Pioneers fell to the Lions 9-0.
