Perkins Named Alfred State’s Submission for 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year Award

Kiara Perkins from women's volleyball has been selected as Alfred State's nomination for the 2022 NCAA Woman of the Year award, joining 576 women across all three divisions of the NCAA including 201 other Division III student-athletes.

The Coudersport, PA native was a five-year member of the Pioneers, a four-year starting outside hitter, a team captain twice and voted team MVP twice.

Perkins started in all 96 matches over her career and is ranked second in program history in career points per set (3.3), third in career points (1055), third in career kills (862), fifth in career aces (171) and eighth in career digs (707).

Furthermore, Perkins was named to the 2017 and 2018 ACAA All-Conference Team, the 2021 ECAC All-Tournament Team and was second team All-AMCC in 2021.

Academically, Perkins received a bachelor's degree in Human Services Management and an associate of applied science degree in Social Sciences. She was on the Deans List in 2019 and 2020.

Her civic engagements include participating in Pink Pride for four years, being a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee for two years and volunteering as a travel coach from 2017-2020.

"Over her five years at Alfred State, Kiara has always set a great example of what it means to embrace the process and evolve as a student athlete.  She worked very hard to become a great athlete, teammate, and student, taking advantage of opportunities on this campus and off. Kiara truly represents what committing to the process means. The result of consciously doing something each day that will add to your overall excellence."
